Happy Easter to you all!

This beginning of the year has shown again another difficult year for all of us. The outbreak and subsequent pandemic of COVID-19 has challenged EU policies for health. Nursing research in the EU policy design has never been so important to provide evidence for shifting from a disease-specific model of thinking to co-design a more people, citizen, and patient driven person-centred care system resourced with a highly qualified, motivated and supported nursing workforce. From a nursing research perspective, investing in research and innovation is investing in Europe’s future. Even more now that the nurses are leaving the profession massively!

In these challenging times, it is key for health research to support the development and evaluation of nursing innovation, and to demonstrate the value of the nursing workforce. As such, the ENRF will continue to follow on the EU developments, getting closer to the EU policymakers and bring at EU level the needed nursing research evidence on key policy topics.
