With the draft withdrawal agreement discussed early this week, the Brexit process has taken a major step forward. The provisional UK-EU deal foresees that UK scientists and entrepreneurs will cease to be eligible for EU-funded grants under the EU research programme after Brexit takes officially place next March 2019.

Although the current British participation in H2020 can still be guaranteed with the UK paying for any British researchers whose EU grants have been approved up to the end of the current EU programme, a question mark is still pending on what will happen to UK scientists with the new research programme, Horizon Europe. Open access to science and research is key for promoting a full engagement of nursing researchers all over Europe.
